Our next Discussion and Support Group meeting is on Tuesday 20th August at 5.30 – 7.00pm, via Zoom.
At this meeting, Sarah Carr and Tina Coldham will talk about a survivor-controlled review of peer-reviewed literature on service users’ experiences of social and psychological avoidable harm in mental health social care in England. Avoidable harm is defined as harm to service users caused by unsafe or improper interventions, practices or services and which could have been mitigated or prevented.
There is a published article reporting on the review: ‘Service users’ experiences of social and psychological avoidable harm in mental health social care in England: Findings of a scoping review’ It is available with open access, but there’s no need to read before the meeting.
At the meeting, there will also be space to bring your own topics for support and discussion.
These online meetings offer a space for people with lived experience of mental distress to discuss survivor research and the issues and barriers we face in getting involved in doing mental health research for ourselves.
Although our primary focus is on mental health research in England, survivor researchers from outside England or the UK are welcome to register and attend.
The meeting is via Zoom and you can register here.
